Best Time to Visit Dubai: Month-by-Month Weather & Events Guide

Dubai is a year-round destination, but the time of year you visit makes an enormous difference to your experience. The difference between January (18°C, buzzing with festivals) and July (43°C, half the city on holiday) is stark. Here's everything you need to know to choose the right time for your trip.

The Short Answer

Best overall: November to March

Best value: May, September, October

Avoid (heat): June, July, August

Best for events: January, February, March, November, December

Month-by-Month Breakdown

January — Peak Season ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Temperature: 18–24°C | Crowds: Very High | Prices: Very High

January is arguably the best month to visit Dubai. The weather is perfect — warm, sunny days and cool evenings — and the city is at its most vibrant. The Dubai Shopping Festival runs throughout January, offering massive discounts across the city's malls and souks. The Dubai Marathon draws runners from around the world.

Book 2–3 months ahead. Hotels fill up fast and prices peak in January.

February — Peak Season ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Temperature: 19–26°C | Crowds: High | Prices: High

February continues the excellent weather. The Dubai Food Festival is a highlight for food lovers, with pop-up restaurants, chef collaborations, and street food events across the city. The Dubai Jazz Festival brings world-class musicians to Media City Amphitheatre.

Valentine's Day is extremely popular in Dubai — book romantic dinners, cruises, and experiences well in advance.

March — Great ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Temperature: 22–30°C | Crowds: High | Prices: High

Still excellent weather, with slightly warmer afternoons. The Dubai World Cup (late March) is the world's richest horse race and one of the great social events of the Gulf calendar. Art Dubai brings the international art world to the city. Afternoons start to feel warm, but evenings remain perfect.

April — Good ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Temperature: 26–35°C | Crowds: Medium | Prices: Medium

Temperatures begin to rise noticeably. Outdoor activities are still enjoyable in the morning and evening, but midday is getting hot. Global Village — the massive multicultural festival park — closes for the season in April. Fewer crowds and lower hotel rates than peak season make April good value.

May — Shoulder Season ⭐⭐⭐

Temperature: 30–40°C | Crowds: Low | Prices: Low

Getting genuinely hot. Outdoor sightseeing is best done early morning or after sunset. Indoor attractions — Dubai Mall, Ferrari World, IMG Worlds of Adventure — are excellent choices. Dubai Summer Surprises begins, with discounts at hotels, malls, and attractions.

Good for: Budget travellers, indoor attractions, families who don't mind the heat.

June — Summer ⭐⭐

Temperature: 33–42°C | Crowds: Very Low | Prices: Very Low

Summer arrives in earnest. The combination of extreme heat and high humidity makes outdoor activities genuinely uncomfortable during the day. Dubai Summer Surprises offers hotel discounts of 50–70% versus peak season — extraordinary value if you're prepared to spend most of your time indoors or at the beach in the early morning.

Good for: Budget luxury — five-star hotels at three-star prices.

July — Peak Summer ⭐⭐

Temperature: 35–43°C | Crowds: Very Low | Prices: Very Low

The hottest month. Outdoor activities are not recommended between 10 AM and 6 PM. Aquaventure Waterpark is popular in the early morning when the water is warm and queues are minimal. The Dubai Mall and indoor theme parks are the main daytime options.

August — Peak Summer ⭐⭐

Temperature: 35–43°C | Crowds: Very Low | Prices: Very Low

Similar to July. Many Dubai residents travel abroad in August, making the city quieter than usual. The best month for luxury hotel deals — properties that cost AED 2,000+ per night in January can be found for AED 500–700.

September — Shoulder Season ⭐⭐⭐

Temperature: 32–40°C | Crowds: Low | Prices: Low

Temperatures begin to ease slightly. Still hot, but noticeably more manageable than July–August. GITEX Technology Week (late September) brings a large business crowd. Good value for budget-conscious travellers who don't mind some heat.

October — Good ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Temperature: 27–36°C | Crowds: Medium | Prices: Medium

Weather improves significantly. Global Village opens for its new season in late October — a highlight of the Dubai calendar. Outdoor activities become enjoyable again. Prices start to rise as the peak season approaches.

Good for: Families, outdoor activities, Global Village.

November — Excellent ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Temperature: 22–30°C | Crowds: High | Prices: High

One of the best months to visit. Comfortable temperatures, the Dubai Airshow (odd years), and the Dubai Rugby Sevens make November a lively month. The start of the peak season social calendar.

Book early — November marks the beginning of peak season and hotels fill up fast.

December — Peak Season ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Temperature: 18–26°C | Crowds: Very High | Prices: Very High

Perfect weather and a festive atmosphere. New Year's Eve at the Burj Khalifa is one of the world's most spectacular fireworks displays, drawing hundreds of thousands of visitors. December is the most expensive month to visit — New Year's Eve hotel rates can be 3–4× normal prices.

Book 6 months ahead for New Year's Eve in a good location.

Best Time by Travel Style

For families: October to March — school holidays align with peak season, and the weather is ideal for outdoor activities and waterparks.

For couples/honeymoons: November to February — perfect weather, romantic atmosphere, and the city at its most beautiful.

For budget travellers: May, September, or October — shoulder season offers the best balance of value and weather.

For luxury at a discount: June to August — extraordinary hotel deals, but you'll need to embrace the heat.

For events and festivals: January (Shopping Festival), February (Food Festival), March (World Cup), November (Airshow), December (New Year's).
